Monday Morning Update

A Mild Monday

Posted: Updated:
The upper air flow will remain basically from the northwest to southeast over the central plains for the next few days.   This will bring another disturbance into the region Tuesday night into Wednesday as much colder air invades the eastern third of the nation.   We'll only see a glancing blow of this cold air-mass Wednesday night into Thursday while our neighbors across the Midwest into the northeast could experience extremely cold weather conditions.

Late in the week, another upper level low is expected to develop across or near the Baja and will again become cut-off from the flow.   This low may retrograde into the weekend before ejecting into the central or southern plains by middle of next week.   The resultant weather will be very mild and benign after this week's Wednesday frontal passage.

Mild weather is expected today with highs moving into the upper 50s or lower 60s across eastern OK with warmer conditions across central and western OK.  North winds are expected around 10 mph.   Strong south winds return Tuesday with highs moving back into the upper 60s or lower 70s in advance of another cold front slicing across the area Wednesday.   The models have continued to back-off from the precip chances with the mid-week system, but we may see a few sprinkles or brief showers with the frontal passage Wednesday evening across southern OK.   A few post frontal sprinkles could occur near Tulsa pre-dawn Thursday.   But the higher chance for rain will remain across far southeastern OK or north TX.   We'll only keep a 10% pop for the Wednesday frontal passage for northern OK.

Wednesday should feature highs in the mid or upper 50s before the front arrives Wednesday afternoon.   Thursday should be the coldest day of the week.  Thursday will feature highs only in the lower 40s before leveling off in the upper 50s Friday afternoon.  Morning lows will be in the 20s by late in the week.  Friday and Saturday would feature lows in the 20s.

The data this morning is much colder for the weekend.  I will make some adjustments down for the Saturday and Sunday, but no precipitation will occur.   Saturday's highs may stay in the lower 40s with Sunday morning in the 20s moving into the upper 40s near 50 for the high.

Thanks for reading the abbreviated Monday Morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
