SALINA, Oklahoma -

A Salina veteran and his family are getting help as they try to recover from a house fire. Ronny Sweger, his wife Claudia and their three boys lost their home in a fire last June.

Ronny retired as a Green Beret then dedicated his life to helping other veterans.

The veteran support organization Operation Finally Home returned the favor Monday by presenting the family with a check to help them get back on their feet.

"It means everything," said veteran Ronny Sweger. "I have a Momma bird here who needed a nest, and it means everything."

Operation Finally Home will also be breaking ground later this month of a new, mortgage-free home for the Sweger family.
