Oklahoma Music Festival To Donate To Tornado Relief

An Oklahoma music festival is chipping in to help its community after a rash of severe weather including several tornadoes.

The Backwoods Music Festival is donating ten percent of all ticket sales through April 4 to the Tornado Relief Efforts in Oklahoma.

The festival said it will make the donation to the Red Cross.

Executive Producer of the festival, Will Royall, said the festival has grown over the last eight years and with more resources, felt they are able to give back to the community.

“The motto of our festival is ‘Good music. Good people. Good times.' It's all about positive energy and helping each other. It's the spirit of the event to do something like this,” he said.

Wednesday, tornadoes ripped through Sand Springs and Moore dealing damage to several homes and taking one life in Sand Springs.

The Backwoods Music Festival takes place in Stroud, about halfway between the two locations hit the hardest.

Backwoods has earned a reputation of showcasing some of the best independent bands in the area along with nation acts. Performers this year include - Porter Robinson, Break Science, The Floozies, Skytown, Red Dirt Rangers and more.
