Tulsa Couple Hopes For Tips On Hit-And-Run Driver

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Police are looking for the pickup driver who crashed in front of an east Tulsa home and then drove away. The hit-and-run crash woke up the family inside to find a mess on their front lawn.

The Arthurs got quite the alarm when a green pickup swerved off of 21st Street and crashed into their carport, parked SUV and wheelchair ramp.

It's a lot of damage.

Shirley Arthurs has lived with her husband Jerry in their east Tulsa home almost all her life.

Never once would she ever expect this to happen in her front lawn.

“And I said ‘that sounds like the carport falling down,'” she said. “So, he said, 'well, look out the window.' Well, when I looked out the window I saw taillights up here on the ramp."

She and her husband woke up to the sound of a pickup slamming into their parked SUV.

“He showed no signs of slowing down," Jerry Arthur said.

Jerry came outside to see what was happening when he heard the loud crash.

“He threw mud all over me and the porch, but once he cleared that and got the left side of his truck off of there he was gone," Jerry said.

The pickup did more than just damage to their SUV and carport.

The driver backed the truck up onto Shirley's wheelchair ramp, and she can't risk taking any chances trying to get down it.

“I can't go nowhere now,” she said. “…I'm here, I can if I hop down, but like I said, I'm too old for that now."

Tulsa police are looking for the pickup driver and told the Arthurs they went down 21st Street where it was last seen driving off toward 193rd East Avenue.

“It's going to have a lot of damage," Shirley said.

The Arthurs are filing an insurance claim on their damaged SUV, carport and wheelchair ramp.

“We're hoping we catch him,” Jerry said.

The Arthurs say the pickup is a blue-green 2004 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
