Severe Thunderstorms, Tornadoes Possible Across Oklahoma

TULSA, Oklahoma - There is a very good chance northeast Oklahoma will see some type of severe weather Wednesday afternoon and evening.

According to the Tulsa branch of the National Weather Service, the greatest risk of severe weather will be from cells that develop after 4:00 Wednesday afternoon across northern Oklahoma.

The NWS said the area with highest risk will be along and north of Interstate 44.

The NWS has issued a Tornado Watch until midnight for Osage County. At one point over 30 counties were under the watch, including Tulsa County.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was also issued for northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas until 7:00 Wednesday night.

Oklahoma counties included were Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says a cold front was located across southern Kansas and is expected to push into northeast Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon.

He says as the front arrives, thunderstorms, some of which could quickly become severe.  Crone says of the storms could produce large hail and localized damaging winds, but he says several tornadoes are also possible Wednesday afternoon and evening, especially north and west of Tulsa.

Tuesday evening, north of the Kansas-Oklahoma state line, a tornado was reported in Neodesha. There was no reports of any damage.
