TULSA, Oklahoma -

Students at Tulsa's McClure Elementary School got to play in the dirt Tuesday as part of a lesson on healthy eating.

The school at 1770 East 61st Street dedicated it's "teaching garden."

Teachers say the garden will help kids learn responsibility by taking care of the plants. The students will be able to plant the seeds - nurture the growing plants - and harvest the vegetables. But they say the ultimate goal is to inspire healthier eating habits.

"Teach them about health - and teach them how to really be resourceful and be able to provide those things for themselves," said fourth grade teacher Katherine Thompson.
