The final round was merely a formality for Texas as the Big 12 championship wrapped up Wednesday at Southern Hills, but for OSU's Jordan Niebrugge and the Cowboys, it was a chance to move forward. "I've made longer than that, but it wasn't quite as undulating," stated Niebrugge.

A lengthy birdie at 18, to shoot one-under 69 for the day was the icing on an otherwise tough test. "[The] last two rounds [were] definitely satisfying,” said Niebrugge. “I hit it a lot better than the first round. [It was] the kind of course where you don't get many opportunities, but I hung in there."

For OU, it's at least momentum going into the regionals. "We have several guys who are playing to play very well right now,” said OU golfer Alan Bratton. “I'm actually pretty confident coming in."

For the Sooners, there's still positive, just not this day. Despite a fourth place finish for Michael Gellerman, the Sooners say there's still time to get better for regionals.

They dropped to sixth overall in team score. "We're going to get to work, find out what it is that's going to make us a better squad, and try to go compete at regionals and move on to nationals," explained Sooner golfer Charlie Saxon.

Despite the grueling test, this was Texas' week. Four of their five golfers placed in the top ten and they won the Big 12 tournament by over 20 strokes.

All of the competing teams stated that Southern Hills will prepare them for future tournaments.
