Owasso Police say a 21-year-old man was struck and killed while trying to cross Highway 169 on foot. Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff said they believe the man had been a passenger in a car that pulled over on the side of the highway shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday near East 106th Street North.
"The victim reportedly exited the vehicle, attempted to cross the highway on foot when he was struck by a passing motorist, also traveling northbound on the highway," Woodruff said.
Officers at the scene told News On 6 the man had been arguing with someone in the car when he got out and stepped in front of a passing vehicle.
Police are notifying the man's family and have not released his name. They say the driver who hit him his cooperating with their investigation.
Authorities don't believe alcohol was a factor in the wreck.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed as accident investigators processed the scene, Woodruff said.
