Oklahoma City police are now investigating the city's 25th homicide of 2015, after a child injured back in 2005 died ten years later.
According to police, back in January, 2005, officers responded to the report of an injured child in southwest Oklahoma City. At that time, the victim, Blake Johnson, was just shy of a year old.
Doctors at the hospital found injuries consistent with abuse. Police told News 9 that a CT scan performed on the victim 10 years ago showed that he suffered bleeding in the head and fracture in the back of his skull.
Police said the victim never fully recovered. The child's parents, Windi Johnson, now 40 years old, and Cory McGalliard, now 33 years old, were arrested.
On Thursday, May 21, 2015, police said they learned that the victim passed away from these injuries on May 18, 2015. Officers are now investigating the child's death as Oklahoma City's 25th homicide of 2015.
The child's parents remain in prison. McGalliard was convicted of child abuse in 2008 and is serving a life sentence in prison. Windi Johnson was convicted of permitting child abuse in 2007. She is serving a 10 year sentence in prison and 20 years on probation.
