A Chickasha woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly huffing spray paint right in the paint aisle at the local Wal-Mart.
Police were called out to the store, located at 2001 S. 1st St., just before 1 p.m. When they arrived the officers met with a manager and the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Stacy Young, at the front of the store.
In the report, the officers noted that Young had black spray paint covering her hands and sleeves, that she could not stand still and repeatedly twitched as they tried to speak with her. When asked what she was doing in the paint aisle of the store, Young replied that she was painting a friend's house and needed to purchase the paint.
Witnesses told police they saw Young sitting on the floor of the paint aisle “with an assortment of spray paint cans”. Other witnesses described what was going on saying they saw Young “smelling her sleeve” and that you could “smell [paint] in the air.”
When police asked Young what she was doing sitting on the floor of the paint aisle she responded that she was opening the cans and spraying them to see what color they were.
Based on the witness statements police arrested Young on one count of Public Intoxication and one count of Larceny of Merchandise. During the arrest officers also discovered that Young had a warrant for her arrest out of Comanche County. Details on the warrant were not made available.
