FAA Says Tulsa Air Traffic Controllers Still Working Out Of Temporary Tower

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Federal Aviation Administration says Tulsa's air traffic controllers could be in a temporary tower for several more weeks.

They've been working in a modified trailer for nearly a month already after a chemical used to remove asbestos created toxic fumes.

The FAA says there is a lot of working going on in the original tower, so it is keeping air traffic control in the mobile temporary tower for now.

The trouble at the tower started June 24, when a contractor using a solvent to remove tiles created fumes that forced workers to abandon the top floor.
