A Marine veteran is a third of his way into a 6,000-mile journey to raise awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Ryan Weldon took his picture on his way out of Tulsa last week using the road sign to point toward his next stop, Houston.
"I'm walking over the Arkansas River. There she is baby, massive body of water," he said.
A week later, he has now crossed the state line into Texas.
Weldon says 22 veterans commit suicide every single day and that's unacceptable. He says they aren't getting the help they need, so he’s raising awareness about the problem.
Last Christmas he started selling off everything he owned. On Valentine's Day, he left his home in Dover, Delaware and hasn't looked back.
Weldon said, "Every day’s an adventure, every day’s a new discovery. I have no idea what's around the next corner,” he said. “And there's really no end date, however long it takes to save a life."
Weldon decided to take a little family time while he was in Bartlesville. His sister, brother-in-law and nephews live there.
You can follow Weldon's journey on his Facebook page.
