The Muskogee Creek Nation primary election unofficial results show a close race for the office of principal chief. Challenger James Floyd received the largest number of votes with 1,282 or 27.18 percent. Current Principal Chief George Tiger was second with 1,179 votes or 25 percent.

Both candidates thanked voters on their campaign Facebook pages:

James Floyd:

A big MVTO to everybody who has supported me and had faith in me during the campaign. Although the results are unofficial, it looks like I will be in the runoff. I will continue to work hard for the future of our entire tribe, going out among as many of you as possible so that I can hear how the tribe can improve, and to better know how to best serve you. I look forward to talking and meeting with many of you in the weeks ahead.

George Tiger:

Using a football analogy, the preseason is over and now it comes down to the real game. I've always looked forward to prime time and that time is here. Congratulations to those who won outright and those who are in the runoff in the MCN election!

National Council delegates were also on the ballot. Top finishers were David W. Hill for Creek District - Seat A; Darrell Proctor in McIntosh District - Seat A; Randall Hicks (27.08 percent) and Franklin Coachman (25.03 percent) in Okfuskee District - Seat A; Del Vince Beaver in Okmulgee District - Seat B; Robert L. Hufft in Tulsa District - Seat A; Shirlene M. Ade in Tukvpvtce District - Seat A and Johnnie Chalakee Green (50.24 percent) and Timothy A. Jackson Jr. (49.76 percent) in Wagoner District - Seat A.

The general runoff election is scheduled for November 7.
