Monday Morning Update

Weak System Nearing Today

A disturbance located across plains of Texas is lifting northeast this morning into part of western OK producing light precipitation.   This wave is not initialized well by most of the model data.  There will be a slight chance of some sprinkles approaching part of northeastern OK later today with increasing clouds.   Temperatures may stay in the upper 60s and lower 70s across eastern OK today due to the increased cloud cover for the 2nd half of the day.   But the overall pattern will support gradually warming temperatures for the next few days before a cold front will move across the area Thursday evening or Friday morning with a slight chance for showers and storms.

The upper air pattern is undergoing another change for the next few days.   A pacific trough is expected to move across the desert southwest before diving southward across the Mexican Plateau Friday and Saturday and then retrograding to near the Baja early next week.   A northern stream system will help push a cold front across the state sometime by the end of the week, more than likely sometime late Thursday night into Friday.   We’ll need to include a low chance for a few showers or storms Thursday evening into Friday morning to midday.   The front is expected to clear the area late Friday night or Saturday morning bringing pleasant and mild weather back to the northeastern OK area with lows in the lower to mid-50s and with Saturday highs in the mid-70s and Sunday’s highs in the upper 70s.

Readings this morning in the 50s will move into the upper 60s and lower 70s with mostly cloudy conditions and northeast winds around 10 mph.   A few showers or sprinkles may be possible later today, but this chance will remain low.  Tuesday features partly sunny conditions and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s with a return of southerly winds at 10 to 15 mph.   Temps will level-off around 80 Wednesday through Friday with a slight chance for showers or storms Thursday night into Friday.

Saturday morning should start in the lower to mid-50s and end in the mid-70s with Sundays highs in the upper 70s.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
