Tuesday Morning Update

Alan Crone's Weather Blog: Sunny And Mild Week Ahead

TULSA, Oklahoma -

A cold front moved across the area yesterday morning bringing dry air and windy conditions to the state.   This morning the pressure gradient has relaxed.   Clear sky and clam wind will allow temperatures dropping into the mid and upper 40s and lower 50s with light wind.   Later today winds will return to the south but remain generally light with 5 to 10 mph winds across eastern OK.   Temperatures this afternoon will remain in the lower 80s along with mostly sunny and pleasant conditions.

The upper air pattern will remain from the northwest to southeast across the plains states for the rest of the week.   No major systems will be nearing the area, but a weak front will slide southward Thursday night into Friday morning.   This front will bring some cooler air to the region Friday through the weekend, but only a low chance of showers or sprinkles Thursday night and Friday morning to northern Ok and Southeastern Kansas.  Until this occurs, our weather will remain very mild and cool mornings and warm afternoons.

Highs this afternoon will move into the 80s along with sunshine and light winds.   Wednesday morning should start in the upper 40s to near 50 with highs in the lower to mid-80s.   South winds at 10 mph will be likely.   A gusty southwest wind Thursday combined with increasing temperatures at the 5K ft. level will move daytime highs into the upper 80s with mostly sunny and warm weather expected for the entire region.   Late Thursday night and early Friday morning the cold front will move southward with a chance for a few showers across southern Kansas and northern OK, but this chance will remain rather low.   We’ll keep this pop at only a 10% for this forecast update cycle.

Temperatures will cool Friday through the weekend with Friday afternoon highs in the upper 60s near 70.   The weekend lows will begin the upper 40s near 50.  Saturday highs near 70 will be followed by Sunday highs in the mid-70s.

Extended data support a system nearing the state for the middle of next week with increasing rain chances.    The fire danger will continue to be an issue until significant rainfall occurs across the region.  Please use caution.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
