TULSA, Oklahoma -

If you have some old keys lying around in a drawer at your house, the City of Tulsa and the Tulsa Children's Museum wants them.

Kendra Freedom is the volunteer coordinator at the Tulsa Children's Museum. They are working with the City of Tulsa on an art project to highlight America Recycles Day, November 15th.

"What we are hoping for is enough keys so we have three to five keys per child that visits the museum on that day," she said.

If you have some old keys, Graham Brannin with the Metropolitan Environmental Trusts Tulsa Depots said you can drop them off in the Keys for Kids bucket at any of their locations.

"The program is called Keys for Kids, the idea everybody's got key's lying around," Brannin said.

City of Tulsa Community Centers are also accepting keys for the project.

In a news release, the City said the idea is to use the old keys to unlock a child’s creativity; turning something useless into something beautiful.

Key collection runs through Monday, November 16th, and you can drop them off at any Tulsa MET location or Community Center.
