TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma - The Cherokee Nation hosted a breakfast Tuesday morning in Tahlequah to thank tribal veterans for their service.

As part of the ceremony, they also unveiled a new 12-foot granite Cherokee Warrior Memorial. It pays tribute to all of the men and women who defended their families and the tribe.

The words etched on the memorial are both in Cherokee and English.

The tribe estimates there are more than 4,000 Cherokee veterans.
