A Washington County judge has ordered a competency jury trial for a 23 year old man who threatened a mass shooting at Copan Public Schools last year.

Sheriff deputies said in November 2015, Kyle Benefiel admitted to sending an email to the City Of Bartlesville's website threatening to shoot everyone.  In that email, Benefiel said the threat was not a joke and he would commit suicide after the mass shooting.

At a hearing Friday, a judge ordered the competency jury trial and reduced Benefiel's bond from $25,000 to $10,000.  If he posts bond, the judge ordered him to wear an ankle monitor and stay at least 1,000 feet away from Copan schools.

The jury trial was set for February 25.
