Very nice weather is expected today despite morning temperatures in the teens and lower 20s.   Highs this afternoon will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s with sunshine and southwest winds around 5 to 10 mph.   Five-Star weather today! The pattern will remain active for the next few days but with very little impact on sensible weather conditions.

The upper air flow will bring a trough across the state later today with little fanfare other than dry air aloft.   The next wave will quickly drop out of the inter mountain region Friday and cross northeastern OK Friday night and early Saturday morning.   This system is getting stronger in the data regarding the upper level strength but the lower level moisture will be very low.   The impact on sensible weather will remain low but there may be a few showers late Friday night and pre-dawn Saturday morning.   I introduced a low pop for this period yesterday and will continue to keep this chance in the forecast at 20%.   Temperatures may need to be lowered slightly for the Saturday afternoon highs but we’re sticking with the 53-55 at this point.

Sunday another upper level system will quickly move near the area but the difference will reside in the main upper air flow across the nation.   A few showers may be possible Sunday evening but this chance remains less than 10%.  The vortex located across Hudson Bay will deepen once again allowing for a sharp northerly flow from the highs plains into at least eastern OK early next week.   A surface cold front will move across the entire state sometime Sunday afternoon or early evening.   Strong northwest winds will bring colder air into the area that should last through early next week.   The magnitude of the air-mass continues to waffle in the data, but the consensus remains suggesting below normal readings Monday and Tuesday.   We may tweak some of the temperatures a few degrees on occasion but the trend of colder air early next week will remain in the forecast.

Today should be a five-star weather day.   Light winds from the southwest will combine with abundant sunshine to produce highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.   Temperatures this morning are quite cold with lows in the teens and lower 20s.

Friday morning will support lows in the upper 20s and lower 30s with highs in the lower to mid-50s.   We’ll see increasing clouds by afternoon as the above mentioned disturbance approaches the area.   A few showers or sprinkles will remain possible late Friday night overnight into pre-dawn Saturday.    Most of the weekend will be good with lows in the 30s and highs in the lower to mid-50s.   The strong cold front will arrive Sunday night bringing the colder air back to the eastern third of Oklahoma early next week.

Thanks for reading the Thursday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
