Tulsa Firefighters Investigate Arson In Double House Fire

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa arson investigators are looking into two fires that happened at the same home in 12 hours.

The second time, firefighters say the front door was open and a fire was burning in a different part of the house.

Neighbors near 12th and 56th West Avenue witnessed two fires burn the vacant home. The first was Wednesday evening, followed by another early Thursday morning.

"Well, about 8:30 it come up and again before 6:00, so it's a pretty short time," neighbor Donnie McCollom said.

TFD said the first fire, Wednesday night, started somewhere on the outside of the home while the resident was gone. Firefighters quickly put it out and secured the home.

They returned to it again early Thursday morning.

TFD can't say just yet why someone attempted to burn the home twice.

Captain Stan May said, "They've definitely said both cases were arson, and it was two different incidents. So, they'll do their interviews and start to tie all that evidence in."

Neighbors are concerned about the fires.

Tony: “Are you just worried to see that this house was up in flames so close to yours?
McCollom: "Yep, it worried me a little bit."

Because it’s an active arson investigation, TFD encourages anyone who has any information to how the fire may have started to call their tip line at 918-596-ARSN.
