Domestic Violence Intervention Services had to improvise for its groundbreaking on a new counseling center Tuesday. The rain forced them indoors.
The agency is building a new counseling center that will let them help about twice as many children and parents dealing with domestic violence.
DVIS Director Tracey Lyall said, "The demand for DVIS's services is always on the rise. We see an increase in domestic violence every year in the number of 911 calls related to domestic violence, so this is coming at the right time."
The new center should be open next February.
