We expect another 5-Star weather day!

Clear sky and dry air will allow temperatures to drop into the 40s this morning across Northeastern Oklahoma.   Mostly sunny and pleasant conditions are expected again this afternoon with daytime highs into the mid and upper 70s.   North winds from 10 mph or less will be expected across the area today. The pattern will remain quiet and calm for the next few days, but storm chances will return to the area by the second half of the weekend.

A mid-level ridge of high pressure is currently in control across the Central and Southern Plains and a surface ridge is parked across northern OK this morning.   This surface feature will slide east and south over the next few days.   An area of low pressure aloft, currently across the far desert southwest, will slowly move east.   An area of low pressure at the surface will develop across Southeastern Colorado and slowly move east or north east early next week.   A dry line feature will develop across western OK Sunday and Monday.   Showers and thunderstorms will attempt to develop as these features converge across the state.   While a few showers or storms may be possible Sunday, the higher chance for thunderstorm activity may occur late Sunday night into Monday morning across part of Eastern Oklahoma.   Additional thunderstorms seem possible Monday afternoon and Monday night as the dry line begins to slowly move eastward.   The severe weather threats will be increasing slowly Sunday and could be increasing Monday.

The upper level system should continue to lift to the east-northeast sometime Tuesday or Tuesday night.   At the surface the dry line may pass eastern OK Tuesday allowing dry air and very warm temperatures to spike across part of the area.   A few storms may still be possible Tuesday afternoon or evening, but these would more than likely be confined to far southeastern OK.

The upper level system should be lingering around the central or northern high plains Wednesday and may bring another disturbance southward Wednesday night with additional storm chances.   This portion of the forecast remains highly uncertain.  The confidence for Wednesday (day7) remains very low.

Temperatures will continue to slowly warm with daytime highs in the lower or mid-80s this weekend.   South Winds will return Friday at 5 to 15 mph, but increasing wind speeds are likely this weekend from 15 to 25 miles per hour.

Thanks for reading the Thursday morning weather discussion and blog. Have a great day.
