The White House says President Obama has commuted the sentence of a Broken Bow man serving time for drug convictions.
According to court records, Christopher Dale Masters accepted a plea deal on charges of maintaining a place for the purpose of manufacturing, distributing, and using methamphetamine.
A federal judge gave him the maximum sentence of 20 years in prison in 2005.
On Thursday, the White House announced President Obama commuted his sentence to expire on September 2, 2016. Masters is one of 58 inmates whose sentences President Obama commuted Thursday.
Masters is currently housed at the Seagoville Federal Correctional Institution near Dallas.
According to a motion for a reduced sentenced filed by Masters last fall, he has been a model prisoner who completed his GED as well as other classwork.
In March, President Obama commuted the sentence of an Okmulgee inmate serving time for a drug conviction.
