Burglars Caught On Tape In East Tulsa Church Parking Lot

Burglars broke into cars at two east Tulsa churches this week and were caught on tape, police say.

They reportedly took cash and checks and dumped the rest, except one item that might surprise you.

Some folks came to church on Monday night for a small group meeting, and when they came out, three of their cars had been burglarized. But what the bad guys didn't know was that it was all caught on tape and police hope someone knows who they are.

In the video, a blue Dodge Durango pulls up and the people look inside the cars, then they decided on three of the five.

They broke windows on those three, reached inside and took the items they want.

They went to another church, dumped what they didn't want, broke into more cars and took off with even more.

The one thing they didn't dump was a Bible.

"They specifically broke into one car to grab the Bible,” pastor Stephen Carlile said. “It was in a Bible case that looked like a purse. They grabbed it and dumped the case but kept the Bible."

This isn't the first time Adventist Fellowship on East 21st Street has been hit, but it is the first time, they captured it on videotape.

They realize churches are not immune from crime.

"We're trying to do good for our community, trying to equip people, sharing the gospel and people take advantage of that, that's my biggest frustration,” Carlile said.

They won't let this get them down or cause them to stray from their mission of  focusing on sharing Christ's love with all people.

"We love these guys, but we want them caught so they don't do it to somebody else,” Carlile said.
