EPA Gives Tulsa $300K To Help Clean Up Old Industrial Site

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

The City of Tulsa now has an extra $300,000 to continue cleanup on an old industrial site just north of downtown.

The EPA announced the grant Tuesday and the city confirmed to News On 6 they use the money on contamination cleanup at the empty Evans-Fintube building property at I-244 and Archer.

"Tulsa is a nationwide leader in revitalizing neighborhoods by leveraging EPA brownfields grants to clean up abandoned, contaminated properties," said Regional Administrator Ron Curry.

"From the BOK Center to the Mayo Hotel, Tulsa has shown that environmental protection and economic development can go hand-in-hand."

The EPA money now adds to $600,000 in grants that the city is already using for cleaning up asbestos, PCBs and lead-based paint at the property.

Earlier this year, the city confirmed they're considering a project at Evans-Fintube from a Texas developer and have received countless offers for the site over the years.
