Another Heat Advisory For Oklahoma

TULSA, Oklahoma -

The main upper level ridge will remain in place through the end of the week keeping the heat and humidity levels high across eastern OK.   A few widely spaced afternoon and early evening showers or storms will remain possible today across eastern and southeastern OK, but the coverage will remain very low.   Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 90s today with temperature heat index values nearing 105 to 109 this afternoon.   A heat advisory will remain in place this afternoon into the early evening hours for part but not all of eastern OK.

Weather Alerts

A few showers and storms did develop yesterday across part of southern and eastern OK.   Data today also supports this chance with a few additional storms possible slightly more westward.   Again, all of these small showers and storms are expected to remain away from the Tulsa metro.  We may see a repeat performance tomorrow between 3pm and 9pm in the same areas.

Temperatures this morning will stay in the mid to upper 70s and quickly move into the 90s through the noon hour and into the mid and upper 90s later this afternoon.    Most data support a slow uptick in numbers with highs nearing 100 Thursday and staying around 100 to 102 through Saturday.   Lows will move up into the upper 70s and lower 80s for the metro through the end of the period.

Sunday into early next week the main upper level ridge is expected to weaken and slide westward.  This will allow a weak front to near southern Kansas or northern OK with a chance for a few storms.   This may take the temps down a few degrees but no significant cooling is expected Sunday or Monday.

Later next week additional showers and storms may be more likely as a series of disturbances will move near the southern plains.   This activity combined with additional clouds should act to keep highs in the lower to mid-90s for most of the following next week.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
