TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police are looking for three men after they said a man and woman were pistol-whipped during a home invasion Tuesday morning. A man came in through a window that had been left open in the heat, according to Tulsa Police.

Stephanie Ellis said she's glad she and her son, Ryan, are still alive.

"He came in the window with the gun out, chambered, it was ready to go," she said.

The break-in took place just before 6 a.m. in a one-story apartment complex near 61st and Peoria.

The intruder attempted to rob the man and woman who were awake.

One of the victims said her son and the suspect were wrestling for the gun when the gun went off, the bullet coming straight through a window.

TPD said the shooter then ran out of the apartment, got in a white pickup truck and left the scene with two other men.

The man pistol-whipped them; Ryan and Stephanie have bruises but no serious injuries.

"I've never been that afraid in my whole life. I just...I saw my son getting shot," Ellis said.

The man and woman were able to force the man to leave, and he didn't get anything from them.

The victim said it's not the first time they've seen crime in their apartment complex. She said it's a wakeup call that it might be time to move.

Ellis said, "The people that lived here, they got broken into three times before they moved. But it's not just here, it's everywhere."

She hopes the suspect pays for what they did, "Eventually, it's gonna catch up to them. They're gonna get caught doing something. If not for this, it'll be something else, and you'll have ruined your whole life."

Police said the pickup is a white, 2007 or newer Ford pickup with black trim over the wheels of the vehicle and dark tinted windows.

Officers continue to investigate the break-in and say they aren't sure what the motive was.

If you spot it, call 911.
