Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett says helping women stay out of jail is his next goal in building a safer city.
His commission on the status of woman has been looking at the high number of women in prison for the last two years and held a meeting to address their findings.

They've identified some areas where there are gaps in services that they believe are contributing to the problem.
"Now we're in the process of letting them know while they are in jail, if they are in jail, here's what's available to you and here's how you can get there," Bartlett said.
This was the latest summit in the Mayor's Safer, Stronger Tulsa series.

The first three focused on prescription drug abuse, domestic violence and alcohol abuse.
