Oklahoma State advanced to 8-2 Saturday evening with a 45-44 win over the Red Raiders in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State got pistols firing early after claiming a quick 14-0 lead with a jump ball to James Washington and a nine-yard rushing score by Mason Rudolph on a faked handoff.

Texas Tech trimmed OSU's lead 14-7 late in the quarter with a four-yard rush by Patrick Mahomes.

But the Cowboys answered back with a short rush from Chris Carson to elevate OSU's advantage 21-7.

At this point, Rudolph and his offense looked good. And on the opposite side of the ball, the Cowboy defense was playing stout.

Texas Tech, on the other hand, looked good offensively behind Mahomes but was living up to its defensive image: not good.

Early in the second quarter, the Red Raiders continued to chip away OSU's lead to make it a one-score game with a four-yard touchdown connection from Mahomes to Dylan Cantrell.

After a run from Carson snagged the Cowboys a first down and put them at the Texas Tech 17, Justice Hill dodged tackles and forced his was into the end zone to advance OSU's lead 28-14.

With 3:44 before intermission, Texas Tech scored on a three-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Justin Stockton to chip the Cowboys' edge 28-21.

The game was tied 28-28 entering halftime after the Red Raiders scored at the 27-second mark.

After seven plays and 92 yards, Carson made an end zone appearance to help OSU to a 35-28 lead with just over five minutes before the final quarter.

A Ben Grogan field goal tacked on three more for the Cowboys.

The Red Raiders answered back with another score from Mahomes to cut their deficit, 38-35.

But the Cowboys stepped it up a notch with a deep ball from Rudolph to Washington to increase their edge, 45-35.

Texas Tech added a field goal to make it a ten-point matchup with 9:23 to play.

With 6:46 to play, Hill had racked up 17 rushes for 113 yards. This made the fourth time this season the freshman recorded over 100 yards in a single game.

With 1:39 to play, the Red Raiders scored on a short rush in attempts to tie the game but the PAT was no good and the Cowboys held a one-point lead.

OSU maintained that advantage and wrapped with a 45-44 win over Texas Tech on senior day.
