The list of 233 potential designs for a new Arkansas River pedestrian bridge in Tulsa is now down to the final four, and it’s time for the public to weigh in.

"We looked for what we felt would be a really good fit for the Gathering Place and would be something that would be an icon that Tulsa would be proud to have around for another hundred years," said Amanda DeCort with the selection committee.

The current bridge was made into a pedestrian bridge in the mid-1970s, but in just 21 days, the City received hundreds of ideas to replace the structurally deficient bridge.

Submissions came from all ages.

"I think we actually need to do some sort of little exhibit of ones that kids submitted,” DeCort said. “And there was another one of someone's whole kindergarten class. I loved that one."

The selection committee looked at submissions based on three criteria - was the design iconic, did the design complement its neighbors, and was it focused on both pedestrians and bikers and provide a safe, great experience.

The final four submissions include "Crossing", "Gateway", "Metropolis" and "Rebirth," and the power is now in the people's hands.

"We definitely want the whole city's input on what that's gonna look like," DeCort said.

The new bridge will cost about $24 million with funding coming from Vision Tulsa tax dollars.

You have until April 28th to vote; the winning design will be announced May 1st.

You can see all the finalists on the City of Tulsa's website. You can give feedback here.
