Community Forum A Call To Action For Education Funding Crisis

Posted: Updated:
BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

Finding a solution to the education crisis is something that many say everyone needs to be involved in, and one church is stepping up to help people learn how they can take action.

An education forum titled, 'Community Forum On Education,' was held Sunday at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church and people who attended spent some time at the action stations.

For example, they learned how to write letters to their representatives, learned who their representatives are and how to connect to their representatives by Facebook.

The forum speakers included BA Superintendent Dr. Janet Dunlop, BA teachers and administrators, BA board of education members and city of Broken Arrow representatives.

"There are things you can do," said Traci Gardner with St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. "There are things we have to do. It really it can't be stressed enough. We are really at a crisis level right now so, I didn't want anyone getting out of the door without coming and taking some action on the issues they hear."

The teachers who spoke at the forum said that school will continue tomorrow, students and teachers are still going to show up.

So, it creates a false sense that there isn't a crisis but they're urging everyone to remember that something needs to be done.
