DRUMRIGHT, Oklahoma -

Police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Drumright.

OSBI said they arrived at a home at 219 South Tucker and learned the home had been on fire. They said when firefighters put out the flames, they found two dead bodies inside.

Amy Deering has lived in the Drumright area her whole life and doesn't remember anything like this happening while she was growing up.

"As far as small town living, yes. From my childhood, yes - but lately it’s not a surprise. I've had things happen down the street, and it isn't a surprise for it to happen," she said.

Deering said when she heard about the apparent murder-suicide she was initially shocked, but said things have changed in the small town.

"We've had our car stolen - went for a joy ride, found it a block over and destroyed it, so it is not what it used to be," she said.

Drumright Police said a call went out around 8:20 Monday morning for a fire. The call lasted several minutes and during the same call, it was reported that shots were fired.

Police said when the fire department arrived they found Kenneth Bray's body by the front door. It wasn't until after crews put the fire out that they found a female body near the back of the house.

"That makes you wanna kind of bring them in, try to talk to them about what happened, and this isn't the way that we handle our problems and things like that," Deering said.

Firefighters also found a pistol near Bray, who had a single gunshot wound to the head. They also found multiple gas cans.

Police believe Bray shot the female three times, lit the house on fire then shot himself.

The female has not been identified yet and the motive is still under investigation.

Police said there is no threat to the public.
