Thunder general manager Sam Presti can't try to persuade Russell Westbrook to sign a contract extension until July 1.

But, Oklahoma City will be able to pay Westbrook more than any other team, a "supermax" deal worth $219 million for five years.

"I think everybody knows how we feel about him,” said Presti. “He's a transcendent player. I think he's a futuristic player. I think he's a tremendous competitor and we're fortunate to have him, and we'll have a conversation and hopefully, it goes our way."
