TPD: Video Of Child Being Abused 'Really Difficult To Watch'
TULSA, Oklahoma - A Tulsa man is behind bars after police say he live-streamed himself abusing his son on Facebook.
Ralph Hishaw was arrested Monday for child abuse, child neglect and drug possession.
Police said they were alerted to the video by community members who spoke up and contacted them.
Police said the video posted by Hishaw shows him yelling, screaming and telling his 6-year-old son to swear, and even physically abusing him.
"At one point picks the child up, slams his head into the ceiling. He holds the child off the ground,” Detective Matt Arnold said. “And pushing his body weight into the boy holding him up into the corner. At one point, he slaps the boy in the face."
Police say at one point Hishaw pretends to punch the boy and stops right before he hits him.
The initial video runs for about 32 minutes.
Arnold said Hishaw became angry when people posted comments asking him to stop and an hour later made a second video.
"He says in the caption, ‘You all think I was wrong for what I did in the last video. I'll show you something that's wrong.’ And he just screams at the boy and wakes up," Arnold said.
He said Hishaw listed his name in one of the videos, so police found his house and served a search warrant where they found PCP and very little food.
Arnold said, "The front room had so much clutter and debris that it was almost halfway to the ceiling. There was turned over furniture, there was trash everywhere. You couldn't walk on the floor you had to walk on the debris.”
The detective said watching the video was tough.
“The cruelty that this child has endured, it's really difficult to watch," he said. "We do this because we wanna make sure these kids are safe. I mean it’s a calling, it’s a mission. That’s why we do it."
Arnold said the child is in DHS custody.
