FULTON COUNTY, Georgia -

One person was killed after a bus wreck in Fulton County, Georgia Thursday. At least 21 people were injured.

Officials say the bus included a youth group from an Alabama church. The group of high school juniors and seniors were headed to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for a mission trip to South Africa, according to a spokesperson with Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

The church spokesperson added that 42 people were on the bus. Reporters on scene said people were loaded onto stretchers and one person was trapped in the bus.

Of the 21 people injured, nine were immediately taken to nearby hospitals, according to Chief Larry Few with the Fulton County Fire Department.

A spokesperson with Atlanta Medical Center South told CBS46 they have received 15 patients. Meanwhile, a spokesperson with Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta confirmed that they have received nine patients, four of whom are critical, while two are in fair condition and two are stable.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
