TULSA, Oklahoma - Police say a man is dead and a woman is critical after a shooting early Friday outside a Tulsa convenience store.

Officers got the call to the Route 36 store at 36th Street North and Peoria at around 3:30 a.m. and found two people lying on the ground in front of the store.

Homicide investigator Sgt. Dave Walker says witnesses told police there were about 30 to 40 people outside the store when a fight broke out. He says witnesses say a victim who had gotten beat up in that fight began firing shots in the crowd.

A man who was shot in the chest, died after he arrived at the hospital.  A woman who was shot in the leg is also in the hospital after a bullet hit a major artery in her leg.

Sgt. Walker says after the shooting, a car left the scene at a high rate of speed, heading west on 36th Street North.

He says police are now waiting to gain access to the store's surveillance video.
