Tulsa Cub Scout Pack Loses $6,000 Worth Of Gear, Asks For Help

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa Cub Scout Pack is eager to get outside and go camping, but they say someone stole their trailer and everything inside.

A few businesses are doing what they can to help replace the thousands of dollars’ worth of camping gear.

When they're not taking in all that nature has to offer, Cub Scout Pack 49 spends time cooking on their camping trips.

"You get to roast marshmallows and make S'mores," Said 7-year-old Avery Thomas.

They fix more advanced desserts too like peach and blueberry cobbler.

"The kids get involved and they cook them on an open fire," said Pack 49 Cub Master Jeff Thomas.

"The meals are good. Sometimes they're kind of good, but mostly good." Said 8-year-old Sage Thomas.

Right now, all the cooking equipment they have is a propane tank and a few skillets to feed about 100 kids and parents on their next trip in November.

Cub Master Jeff Thomas said the pack's trailer, which took years of fundraising to buy, was stolen last fall.

"And it had all our supplies on it. Cooking materials, utensils, you can name it, but it all got stolen." Said Sage Thomas.

And the cubs fundraising isn't enough to cover the estimated $6,000 loss.

A couple of Brookside businesses have stepped up to help the cub scouts on October 7th.

Blaze Pizza will donate 20% of its sales from anyone with this flyer.

And clothing store Ascent will donate 10% of its proceeds to the pack.

"If anybody could come down and if they need winter gear, if they need clothing gear, if they need anything." Said Thomas.

Thomas says the pack filed a police report and found out insurance won't cover the loss.

But even if they don't replace each and every item that was in the trailer, the cubs are looking forward to learning new skills and making memories sure to last a lifetime.

"I'm just really excited because I get to be with all my friends. We get to do a lot of fun stuff." Said 11-year-old Zane Reusser.

If you can't make it to the fundraiser event on October 7th, you can also donate on the pack's Go Fund Me page.
