4 Dead, 4 Wounded In Shooting At A Tennessee Waffle House

ANTIOCH, Tennessee -

Four people were killed and four others were injured in a shooting at a Waffle House in Tennessee early Sunday, Don Aaron of the Metro Nashville Police Department said in interview with CBS affiliate WTVF.

"A patron wrestled away the gunman's rifle.  He was nude & fled on foot," authorities tweeted.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department identified a "person of interest" in the shooting as Travis Reinking, 29, of Morton, Illinois.  Police were still searching for him late Sunday morning.

Witnesses said, according to Aaron, Reinking arrived in his pickup truck.  "He got out.  There were persons outside the restaurant talking.  He shot them.  He then went inside the restaurant.  More shots were fired, and one of the patrons was hit," Aaron said.

Another patron was able to grab the gun from Reinking, who fled the Waffle House, according to Aaron.

Aaron said the gunman was wearing a green jacket when he went into the restaurant and later "shed" the coat a short distance away.

He "was last seen walking southbound on Murfreesboro Pike," Aaron said, adding, "He was nude."

Of the four people who were injured, two of them were shot, Aaron said.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident," Waffle House said in a statement.  Waffle House said there is an active investigation, and deferred all questions to police.

'This is a very sad day for the Waffle House family, and we ask for everyone to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts and prayers," the statement said.
