CREEK COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A high-speed chase through Bristow ends with a Creek County burglary suspect in jail.

18-Year-old Curtis Murphy is well known to the Sheriff’s office. Deputies say he matched the description of a burglary suspect. Thursday night Deputies tried to pull Murphy over for speeding when he took off

The pursuit started on Highway 48 south of Bristow Near 256th street south. According to Deputies Murphy then turned onto 241st Street South and ran several stop signs before losing the deputies.

The car was found abandoned after what looked like some kind of crash. Deputies say no one was inside the car but they did find several items from recent burglaries including two loaded firearms, drugs, several phones and charging cables and even a cookbook.

Chief Deputy Clark believes the items were stolen from multiple different locations.

“We got two firearms back that will go to the owner and we got them off the street out of the bad guy's hands,”

After searching the car, the Sheriff’s office called out their K9 unit to search a wooded area for Murphy.

“He was able to track him through a heavily wooded area, through about three feet of water and tracked him quite a ways before he was able to apprehend him,” said Clark.

The Creek County Sheriff's Office says not only are they happy to have Murphy off the streets but also guns out of his hands.

Murphy is currently on Department of Corrections probation and has committed previous felonies. His arraignment hearing for this particular incident hasn't been scheduled yet.
