Firefighters are investigating a fire that destroyed a house near Pine and MLK Boulevard.

Flames were shooting from the home when firefighters got to the scene early Friday morning.

Michael Johnson, who lived at the home, said he woke up to a loud boom.

Johnson said he immediately ran out before the flames filled his house

"I could see ... top of the vents," Johnson said.

Firefighters said the house is a total loss. Red Cross is helping Johnson find a place to stay.
