Muskogee Police Release Bodycam Of Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

The Muskogee Police Department has released bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting that turned fatal Tuesday.

Police say Danny Brogdon was determined to die when officers got on the scene, just three minutes after a frantic 911 call for help.

Body camera footage shows officers trying to reason with Danny Brogdon for close to 20 minutes before he charged at them with a knife. Officers had no choice and were forced to shoot.

Muskogee police say 8 officers shot at him and Brogdon died on the scene. Officers say they tried to deescalate the situation for a very long time, with just one officer asking 122 times for Brogdon to drop the knife.

You can hear in the video Brogdon repeatedly saying, "Kill me. I'm ready to die." And "Come On boys, let’s do this."

Officers used a flashbang and bean bags to try and stop Brogdon before the shooting. Officer Lincoln Anderson said they were left with no choice.

"The less lethal options haven't worked, De-escalation hasn't worked, reasoning hasn't worked, then you're forced to use lethal force at that point," he said.

Brogdon injured three women before police arrived. One woman was okay but two others are still in the hospital.

News On 6 was told they both had surgery and are in stable condition.

Muskogee police also held a news conference Friday to update details in the investigation.
