Tulsa Police say a man is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting near 41st and Peoria. He's been identified as Donald Leroy Berry, 58.
Officers say a man was walking down Peoria with a gun in one hand and an arrow in the other. According to police, several people had called to say the man had been pointing the gun at traffic.
An officer arrived at the scene and tried to get the man to put the weapon down, but he instead aimed it at an officer threatening to fire it.
The officer fired two shots at the man hitting him once in the torso. The man was transported to a hospital, and officials say he is in critical but stable condition.
Police have not released the man's identity but did say they have had several confrontational run-ins with him over the past week.
Karen Jones works in the shopping center nearby and says she's glad she wasn't around when the shooting happened.
"I was at a doctor's office and my phone was blowing up because the people at my shop, Curt's Cutters, knew about it and was checking on me but if I hadn't been in a doctors appointment, I would've been in there," said Jones.
TPD says the officer is on paid administrative leave while the department investigates.
