Adrian Gaines, Josh Goepfert, James Landoll, Drake Martel and Richard McCarty have all signed letters of intent to wrestle at Oklahoma City University in 2013-14.
The group joins Trevor Anderson, Sean Carson, Brent Davis and Derek Sivertsen as member of the 2013-14 recruiting class.
Gaines, of Lawton, Okla., was a 2013 all-state selection with a 40-4 record as a senior at Lawton MacArthur High School. The 5-foot-5 132 pounder notched a runner-up finish in the Class-5A state tournament and helped Lawton MacArthur to a second-place finish as a team. Gaines went 96-33 in his high school career.
Goepfert, of Maryville, Kan., posted four top-10 finishes at the Class-3A state tournament during his career at Maryville High School. The 5-foot-7 Goepfert finished runner-up at 113 pounds with a 38-1 record as a senior. Goepfert tallied a record of 122-27 in four years at Merryville.
Landoll, of Maryville, Kan., teamed with Goepfert at Maryville High School. The 5-foot-11, 138 pounder finished fifth at the Class-3A state tournament as a junior and fifth as a senior. Landoll posted a record of 57-9 at Maryville.
Martel, of Ardmore, Okla., competed in the Class-2A state tournament finals four times a Plainview High School. The 5-foot-8 Martel finished runner-up at 17 pounds as a freshman, sophomore and senior and won the state title as a junior. Martel posted a record of 166-21 over four years at Plainview.
McCarty, of Lawton, Okla., wrestled with Gaines at Lawton MacArthur High School. The 6-foot-2, 165 pounds finished runner-up in the Class-5A state tournament as a sophomore and won a state title as a junior. McCarty was an all-state selection in 2013 and posted a career record of 159-20.
The Stars finished 13th in the NAIA Championships and had three all-Americans in 2012-13.
