Wet and cool weather is theme for our Thursday across the majority of eastern Oklahoma.
Areas of rain continue this morning, light for many but heavy in a few spots. The best chance for rain will be in the morning hours, with showers and storms diminishing by midday and mostly dry conditions expected later this afternoon and evening.

Now on Wednesday we had a big fall cool-down for about the western half of Green Country, but we still had much warmer summer-like temperatures in our eastern counties. We expect a larger majority of Green Country to experience fall-like temperatures today, with clouds hanging tough and highs mostly in the 60s! These would be record-breaking cool high temperatures. Our extreme eastern counties right along the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line may still end up warmer in the 70s – but still very nice! – as our lingering cold front nudges very slowly east into Arkansas.
Cloudy and unseasonably cool temperatures will hang around to end the week as well. Once again we’ll have some off-and-on scattered showers on Friday. High temperatures will hold in the 60s to near 70, which yet again would be record-breaking cool highs for this time of year.
A drier and warmer pattern will set up for the weekend as the very slow-moving system responsible for the rainy and cool weather moves off to our east. After a few last showers Saturday morning, we’ll be back to the sunshine Saturday afternoon with highs back in the mid 80s, much closer to average for early September.
A much weaker boundary on Sunday may trigger an isolated shower or storm, but will have much less of an impact on temperatures with highs again in the mid 80s Sunday afternoon. In fact, lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s look to be pretty commonplace as we head into next week.
