Child Dies After Being Hit By Car In Bixby, Police Say

A child died after he was hit by a car on Wednesday night in Bixby, police said.

In an email to parents obtained by News On 6, Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller identified the boy as Connor Rineheart, a fourth-grader at the Central Intermediate.

Bixby Police sent an alert out asking drivers to avoid the area after they said a car hit a child just before 7 p.m. According to police, the crash happened at 169th Street and Highway 64.

Connor, along with a sibling and friend, were crossing the road to go to a nearby store when he was hit, police said.

Police said after the crash, EMSA rushed Connor to the emergency room, where he later died.

The driver who hit him was cooperative with police and was not arrested or charged with anything, according to police.
