Now that Halloween is over, you may be wondering what to do with your pumpkins.

You can compost them or cook them.

Before throwing your jack-o-lanterns and porch pumpkins into the trash with the Halloween candy wrappers, consider donating them to those who think it would make a tasty treat.

Heather and Levi Moeckly own Baby Goose Farms in Skiatook.

"We have a cow, goats, pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, guineas, ducks, quail, rabbits, bunnies. Pretty much everything," said Heather.

They will happily accept your pumpkins to give to their many animals.

"They are definitely a great food for all of our animals,” she said. “They are nutritious, they are good for their stomachs, and they also have deworming properties, so they are really healthy and a good food source."

There are a couple of guidelines the Moecklys ask you to follow before dropping them off.

"It's great to bring over as long as it's not molded and you haven't used chemicals on it. If you have used Vaseline on the inside, that's not so good. If you used wax, then we can scoop that out. Just no added chemicals and no painted pumpkins, but jack-o-lanterns are great," Heather said.

People can also donate their fall decorations like haybales and cornstalks.

"They're fun for the pigs because not only does it make great bedding, they also get to look and pick at the stalks to find any kernels," she said.

One man's trash is another animal’s treasure, or in this case, a great snack.
