Federal trial of former McAlester city manager begins

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- The embezzlement trial of former McAlester City Manager Randy Green is under way today in federal court in Muskogee.

A federal grand jury indicted Green in November on five counts of embezzling at least $25,000.

Green faces up to 50 years in prison and more than a million dollars in fines if convicted on all five counts.

He's pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Green was fired as city manager in January 2005 after it was revealed he was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for unused vacation and leave time.
