OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state House passed legislation Thursday that would provide major sales tax exemption to Oklahoma's rural hospitals for the upgrade and expansion of their facilities.

Senate Bill 1780 would give rural hospitals and nursing homes a sales tax rebate for supply and material purchases made for construction improvements or expansion.

The bill now returns to the state Senate and is expected to then go to a conference committee.
