Thousands of bikers who protect the honor of military funerals are in Rogers County today.

The Patriot Guard Riders' first-ever Gathering of the Guard is underway in Claremore. Riders are expected from all over the country. The PGR formed last August to end protesting at the funerals of fallen military heroes.

Jason Wallin with the Patriot Guard Riders: "We're out here celebrating the American soldier and what they do for us day in and day out and by definition that is the reason we are independent as a country."

There are more than 33,000 PGR members. The event will continue through Wednesday at the Claremore Expo Center.
