NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ University of Oklahoma women's basketball coach Sherri Coale announced Friday the hiring of Guy Austin as the director of women's basketball operations.

The Seminole native left his job as director of sales and marketing with Oklahoma City's Ford Center and Cox Convention Center to pursue the new venture with OU.

In his new position, Austin will manage the team's finances, plan official visits for potential student-athletes, handle scheduling and coordinate the summer basketball camps. He also will oversee the OU Fast Break Club, Coaches' Clinic and Sooner Big Sis programs, and help with marketing.

Austin replaces Dr. Bill Pink, who left the program at the end of June to take a position with the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation.
